Crafted by Winemaker Chris Louton for our exclusive Icon Collection, this Cabernet-driven Bordeaux-style blend is a testament to elegance and power. The nose unfolds with captivating layers of black currant, espresso, rosehip, and warm baking spices, inviting you into its complexity. On the palate, a luxurious tapestry of ripe blackberry, succulent plum, and crème de cassis is woven together with hints of dark cacao, clove, and vanilla bean. Silky and opulent, the wine’s mouthfeel is balanced by a firm, age-worthy structure that promises graceful evolution in the cellar. The mid-palate lingers with richness before transitioning into a polished finish of cool graphite, juicy black fruit, and finely integrated tannins.
Cooler temperatures and an abundance of spring rains in 2023 pushed back the first day of harvest to the beginning of September. The later start and extra ripening time for the fruit allowed flavors and color to develop slowly for depth and concentration. Warm fall days spread harvest out past the end of October for many of the red varieties, with a final pick of Merlot delivered to the winery on November 2.
Vineyard & Appellation Highlights This beautifully crafted blend showcases the diversity of Sonoma County’s most renowned growing regions: Dry Creek Valley AVA (39%) – Adds bold structure and rich dark fruit notes. Russian River Valley AVA (35%) – Brings vibrant fruit and silky texture. Sonoma Valley AVA (24%) – Contributes depth and refined elegance. Rockpile AVA (2%) – Layers in soft spice and floral aromatics. Estate Vineyard Influence Lagomarsino Vineyard (35%) – The backbone of this blend, known for powerful Cabernet fruit. Behler Vineyard (24%) – Adds plush texture and red fruit brightness. Together, these vineyards create a wine of exceptional character, harmonizing Sonoma’s varied terroir into a rich, age-worthy blend.
All grapes are gently de-stemmed before cold-soaking for two days to extract optimal color and flavor. The fruit is fermented in separate lots, allowing each lot to be individually and distinctly crafted before being aged in 43% new French oak barrels. The wine is kept for 20 months in the barrel before final blending.
