Lagomarsino Vineyard

Tasting Notes
The aromas of this estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon are robust and inviting, with dark plum, espresso, pastry, cassis, and dark fudge leading the way. Earthy undertones of sandalwood and leather emerge as the wine opens up. On the palate, a succulent chocolate cordial-like quality greets the front of the mouth, followed by waves of boysenberry, licorice, and Earl Grey tea. The wine has a full, textured mouthfeel with firm, defined tannins that amplify its most decadent fruit qualities. The finish is long and elegant.
Vintage Notes
Our 2022 harvest began just a little earlier than the previous year, with the first fruit picked on August 15. Limited rainfall during the growing season produced slightly lighter crops, bringing intense, concentrated flavor and color. The consistent weather during the summer months helped maintain fruit acidity, bringing brightness and balance to the fruit’s flavors. Harvest continued through the middle of October when we picked the last red grapes from our Sonoma Valley estate, Wild Oak Vineyard.
Vineyard Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit for this lush red wine comes from our Certified Sustainable Estate Lagomarsino Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. This scenic vineyard, just south of the town of Healdsburg, ascends into the foothills, providing warm, sunny days above the fog line, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The long growing season of the Russian River Valley allows full ripeness but with less aggressive tannins than in warmer regions.
Winemaker Notes
All grapes are gently de-stemmed before cold-soaking for two days to extract optimal color and flavor. The fruit is fermented in separate lots, allowing each lot to be individually and distinctly crafted before being aged in French oak barrels, 48% new. The wine is kept 17 months in barrel before final blending.
