Tasting Notes
This elegant expression of Sauvignon Blanc shows off appealing aromas of just-picked stone fruit and tangerine zest with a delicate note of orange blossom. Bright and juicy flavors suggest cool honeydew melon and Comice pear then finish crisp and vibrant on the palate.
Vintage Notes
The 2017 growing season started out wet with record-breaking rainfall. The mild spring led to a timely bud break and good fruit set, followed by ideal conditions of cool mornings and warm, sunny days throughout the summer months. A few days of intense heat at the beginning of September sped up ripening throughout the region. Well-timed picks meant the majority of the fruit was in by the first week of October. Beautiful color, well-defined aromatics, and outstanding flavor define this vintage.
Vineyard Notes
This Sauvignon Blanc comes from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard located at the base of majestic Sugarloaf Ridge and Hood Mountain in historic Sonoma Valley. The soil here is gravely having washed down from the mountain range over centuries. The vineyard is planted with the Musqué clone of Sauvignon Blanc, known for its bountiful aromatics and subtle floral characteristics.
Winemaker Notes
Picked at dawn, these grapes arrived cold and were carefully placed directly into our small bladder press. The free-run juice was collected and fermented slowly at 55º for over 30 days, preserving the wonderful aromas of this Sauvignon Blanc. We prevented malolactic fermentation to preserve the wine’s clean, crisp texture. The wine was aged for five months before bottling.
