Lagomarsino Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Rich, layered and full-bodied, this Cabernet Sauvignon boasts aromas of cassis, baker’s chocolate, and vanilla spice along with intense but balanced flavors of dark red and black fruit. The tannins are well integrated into this creamy-textured, fruit-forward wine.

Vintage Notes

2015 brought an early and light harvest that began on August 10, the earliest date in St. Francis’ history. The year started out very warm and dry but then cool, damp weather in May hampered fruit set. Though the result was smaller, looser clusters on the vine, the warm and consistent summer that followed produced high-quality fruit with exceptional aromatics and concentrated flavors.

Vineyard Notes

The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit for this lush red wine comes from our Certified Sustainable Estate Lagomarsino Vineyard in Russian River Valley. This scenic vineyard, just south of the town of Healdsburg, ascends into the foothills providing warm, sunny days above the fog line, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The long growing season of the Russian River Valley allows full ripeness, but with less aggressive tannins than in warmer regions.

Winemaker Notes

All grapes are gently de-stemmed before cold-soaking for two days to extract optimal color and flavor. The fruit is fermented in separate lots, allowing each lot to be individually and distinctly crafted before being aged in French oak barrels, 60% new. The wine is kept 20 months in barrel before final blending.
