A vibrant and expressive blend, this wine opens with layered aromas of blackberry, raspberry compote, and blueberry, accented by hints of vanilla bean and warm spice. The palate is plush and fruit-driven, with notes of dark cherry and mixed berry preserves unfolding alongside subtle floral undertones. Silky tannins and lively acidity provide balance and structure, leading to a smooth, lingering finish with a touch of cocoa and spice.
The 2024 growing season started off quite wet and cold, giving the vines an extended dormant period. Bud break occurred as spring began, followed closely by a brief bloom period. Early summer brought a mix of warm and hot days, but nights remained cool, allowing the vines time to recoup. Vintage 2024 was a tale of two harvests: our Sauvignon Blanc was harvested on August 31st—two and a half weeks earlier than in 2023—marking the start of an early pick season that also included Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel through early September. The Bordeaux varieties followed, mostly harvested in mid-September, with our final truck of Cabernet Sauvignon arriving on October 11th.
The Cabernet Sauvignon for this illustrious wine is sourced from our Lagomarsino Estate Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. The wine incorporates Petite Sirah from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley, showcasing familial similarities and the delicate nuance of the terroir.
The Cabernet Sauvignon lots were fermented individually before going to barrel to age for 15 months. The lots were chosen for their unique expression of the vineyard, ranging from brightly fruit-forward wines to rich, savory lots. The Petite Sirah was blended in 3 months before bottling, bringing a lifted blueberry and floral note to complement the Cabernet and round out the final blend. Vineyard Notes The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our Lagomarsino Estate Vineyard in Russian River Valley and blends unique blocks from this hillside vineyard. The Petite Sirah is sourced from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in the Sonoma Valley.
