This dazzling Rosé displays a refreshing bouquet of fresh-cut apricot, elderflower, and rose hips on the nose. A crisp minerality opens to a clean raspberry-buttercream juiciness in the middle. Accents of lime zest bring complexity to the acidity and summery white peach notes in the long exhilarating finish.
Our 2021 harvest began just a little earlier than last year, with the first fruit picked on August 18. Limited rainfall during the growing season produced slightly lighter crops but brought intense, concentrated flavor and color. Free from lingering heat waves, the consistent weather during the summer months helped maintain fruit acidity for brightness and balance. Harvest continued through the middle of October when we picked the last red grapes from our estate Lagomarsino Vineyard.
Fruit for this wine is harvested exclusively from the Sonoma Valley, with 63% of the crop coming from our Estate Behler and Wild Oak Vineyards. These exceptional valley-floor vineyards provide defining varietal characteristics structured in the hot sun-soaked days and cool fog-laden evenings.
Estate Zinfandel, Merlot, Viognier, and Chardonnay were picked together at 20-22 Brix early in the cool morning and put directly into the press using the most gentle cycle. Only the free-run juice was collected and fermented at a cold temperature for 30 days. Once alcoholic fermentation was complete, the wine was racked in neutral red wine barrels for six months of aging. Rosé of Sangiovese was added to the blend before bottling, bringing harmony to the overall wine.
