Tasting Notes
Crafted in a classic Provence style, this Rosé presents a delicate blush hue and a bright, crisp profile. Early-harvested red grapes are gently pressed upon arrival, preserving fresh, nuanced fruit expression with minimal color extraction. The wine opens with inviting aromas of wild strawberry, rose petals, and fresh melon, leading to a light-bodied, dry palate layered with notes of juicy strawberry, white peach, and citrus. A clean minerality and vibrant acidity carry through to a refreshing, elegant finish.
Vintage Notes
After a wet winter, the 2025 spring growing season unfolded with mild temperatures, ideal for bud break and fruit set. The weather remained consistent through the summer, allowing slow and steady ripening and pushing our first pick date to late August. Cool evenings and intermittent rain showers in September and October meant early-season white varieties developed natural acidity and depth, while flavors and colors were allowed to intensify later in the season for the red varieties.
Vineyard Notes
Fruit for this wine was harvested from various vineyards throughout Sonoma County. Vineyard blocks used for our Rose program were picked in October, beginning with Zinfandel in the Russian River Valley and finishing with some Merlot picked from our Estate Behler ranch.
Winemaker Notes
Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley was picked at 22 Brix early in the cool morning and put directly into our grape press using the most gentle cycle. Only the pale, blush-colored free-run juice was collected and fermented in a stainless steel tank at a cold temperature for 21 days. The balance of lots used the ‘saigne’ method to bleed Merlot juice from their grape tanks, collecting it into stainless-steel tanks and fermenting it independently for another 21 days. All lots were then sent to neutral barrels for a short elevage of just 3 months. Only 21% malolactic conversion was performed to retain the beautiful natural acidity from the vintage. Wine lots were blended in the first part of the new year and then quickly bottled.
