Planting the Future of Port
Big news from the vineyards—our Port program is growing right along with the vines! Just last spring, we planted traditional Portuguese grape varieties at our Wild Oak Vineyard in the heart of Sonoma Valley, and they’re already thriving. With Touriga Nacional, Souzão, and Tinto Cão now taking root, Winemaker Katie Madigan is carrying forward a bold vision: to expand our Port offerings while staying true to Old World traditions.
Why Portuguese grapes? Because they’re the heart and soul of authentic Port wines. These varieties are prized for their deep color, concentrated flavor, and age-worthy character—all the qualities that make our Sonoma County Ports so richly layered and complex. With each passing season, these vines will add even more personality, depth, and nuance to our lineup.
This expansion is more than just planting vines—it’s planting the future. Our Port wines have built a cult-like following over the years, with members eagerly awaiting each release. The new vineyard additions will help us continue to meet that demand while keeping quality and authenticity at the forefront. Think of it as setting the stage for decades of unforgettable, small-lot Ports to come.
