Monte Rosso Vineyard ™

St. Francis Winery is proud to introduce its first vintage from the storied Monte Rosso Vineyard™, a Moon Mountain District site whose old vine Zinfandel roots trace back to 1886, among the oldest continuously producing vines in California and a recognized member of the Historic Vineyard Society. Perched above Sonoma Valley on iron-rich, volcanic red soil that gives the vineyard its name (Monte Rosso, “red mountain”), this legendary ground has shaped some of the state’s most collected old vine Zinfandels for over a century. Award-winning Zinfandel Winemaker Katie Madigan has defined St. Francis’s reputation for varietal expression and has crafted this inaugural release to honor both the vineyard’s history and its legendary sense of place. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this small lot bottling will be available exclusively through the winery, marking the first time in history that Monte Rosso fruit has been labeled under the St. Francis brand.
