Wild Oak Vineyard
Tasting Notes
There’s a particular kind of afternoon in Sonoma Valley when the air smells faintly of wildflowers and the hillsides seem to hold the warmth of the sun long after it has moved on. Popétte was made with that afternoon in mind. Crafted from Viognier grown at our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in the heart of Sonoma Valley, this low-alcohol white wine is at its best when the weather calls for something cold and effortless. Bright aromas of ripe stone fruit, white blossoms, and a touch of honey lead into a softly rounded palate with delicate sweetness and refreshing balance. Light-bodied and fragrant, this easy-drinking Viognier offers notes of peach, apricot, and floral citrus with a smooth, inviting finish. Enjoy well chilled on its own, over ice, or as the perfect base for a spritz or cocktail.
Vintage Notes
After a wet winter, the 2025 spring growing season unfolded with mild temperatures, ideal for bud break and fruit set. The weather remained consistent through the summer, allowing slow and steady ripening and pushing our first pick date to late August. Cool evenings and intermittent rain showers in September and October meant early-season white varieties developed natural acidity and depth, while flavors and colors were allowed to intensify later in the season for the red varieties.
Vineyard Notes
All of the Viognier for Popétte is sourced exclusively from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. Nestled among rolling hills and influenced by warm days and cool evening breezes, the vineyard provides ideal growing conditions for Viognier, allowing the fruit to develop vibrant aromatics, expressive stone fruit character, and balanced natural acidity. The estate-grown fruit brings a sense of place and freshness to every glass.
Winemaker Notes
Crafted to showcase the vibrant aromatics and naturally expressive character of estate-grown fruit from our Wild Oak Estate Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, Popétte is composed of 94% Viognier and 6% Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was fermented at cool temperatures to preserve its bright fruit aromas and delicate floral notes, then aged for three months in neutral oak to enhance texture and softness without imparting oak flavor. Gentle handling throughout the winemaking process helped maintain freshness and balance, while a touch of residual sweetness lifts the wine’s lush stone fruit character and approachable style. The result is a light, fragrant, low-alcohol white wine designed to be enjoyed well chilled and shared effortlessly.
