We’re raising a glass to our President & CEO, Rick Bonitati, who has been nominated for Wine Executive of the Year in Wine Enthusiast’s 2026 Wine Star Awards.
At St. Francis, we believe great wine starts with great people. So when someone who has dedicated more than three decades to the wine industry is recognized for his leadership, it’s a moment worth celebrating.
Since joining St. Francis in 2018, Rick has brought more than 30 years of fine wine industry experience to the winery, with a career that includes leadership roles with Gallo Family, Jackson Family Wines and Paul Hobbs Wines. But his leadership at St. Francis is about more than experience. Rick makes time for people. He knows names, stops to say hello, shares a laugh and is always willing to lend a hand. Whether he’s connecting with our team, greeting guests at an event or spending time with our Wine Club members, Rick brings an easy warmth and genuine enthusiasm to every interaction.
His favorite saying, “Work hard and have fun doing it,” really captures his approach. Rick sets clear goals and keeps us moving forward, while making sure we enjoy the journey along the way. He encourages collaboration, empowers his teams and understands that the people behind the wine are an essential part of what makes St. Francis special.
That connection extends beyond our team, too. One of the things that makes St. Francis special is the community that has grown around the winery over the years. Our guests, Wine Club members, hospitality team, winemakers, culinary team and vineyard crews all play a part in the St. Francis experience, and Rick loves being part of it. You might find him pouring wine with guests, visiting with Wine Club members, celebrating an event at the winery or simply walking through the property and catching up with the team.
The Wine Star Awards are now in their 27th year, recognizing people and organizations making an impact across the wine, spirits and beverage industry. Being nominated for Wine Executive of the Year is an exciting recognition of Rick’s leadership and the work he has done throughout his career.
So from all of us at St. Francis, we’re raising a glass to Rick!
The 2026 Wine Star Awards winners will be announced in November, and we’ll be cheering Rick on every step of the way.
Here’s to working hard, having fun and raising a glass to the people who make wine worth celebrating.
