Notes, Character & Masterful Winemaking
This Cabernet-driven blend opens with a captivating bouquet of black currant, espresso, rosehip, and warm baking spices. The palate unfolds in luxurious layers of ripe blackberry, succulent plum, and crème de cassis, intertwined with nuances of dark cacao, clove, and vanilla bean. Its silky, opulent mouthfeel is supported by a firm, age-worthy structure that promises graceful evolution in the cellar.
The 2022 vintage was marked by an early harvest and concentrated fruit character. Limited rainfall produced slightly lighter yields, enhancing flavor intensity and color depth, while Sonoma’s consistent summer weather maintained the perfect balance of acidity and ripeness.
Winemaker Chris Louton guided each small lot with care: grapes were gently de-stemmed and cold-soaked for two days to extract optimal color and flavor, then fermented in separate lots to preserve each vineyard’s distinct character. Aged for 20 months in 50% new French oak barrels, the final blend is a seamless expression of Sonoma’s best.
