After much anticipation, Harvest 2024 is officially underway at St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, kicking off with the arrival of Sauvignon Blanc from our estate Lagomarsino Vineyard in Russian River Valley on the morning of Thursday, August 22. This is always a joyous time at the winery and the St. Francis team gathered at the crush pad to cheer the start of this special season.
The 2024 harvest arrived sooner than anticipated, spurred on by long, warm days that accelerated ripening. This early start follows a remarkably stable growing season, where minimal weather fluctuations allowed the vines to thrive. As a result, the fruit is showing exceptional flavors, layered complexity, and expressive aromatics—promising a standout vintage from an extended season of steady development.
Picking began during the cool overnight hours to retain fruit integrity and aromatics. These grapes, picked at 22.2˚ Brix, are bursting with bright aromatics and exceptional flavors of white peach, citrus, and honeydew melon. The perfect balance of crisp fruit character, acidity, and texture leads us to believe this Sauvignon Blanc is just the beginning of what we expect to be a spectacular harvest.
